Juanita Pérez-Adelman was born in Bogotá, Colombia. She studied for a Master of Fine Arts degree at Colombia’s National University of Bogotá. She relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1977 and three years later completed a Master’s degree in Printmaking from California State University, Northridge. Since 1987 Pérez-Adelman has maintained her studio in Mexico City and has exhibited widely in Latin America, Europe, and the United States.
Juanita Pérez-Adelman's art work reflects the blending of the three different cultures that have shaped her life - Colombian, American and Mexican. This syncretism is clearly reflected in her paintings through the interweaving of the threads that merge and linken her personal history.
